Bendle Middle School Mission

Our mission at Bendle Middle School is to preserve an educational environment rich in mastery learning, differentiated instruction, and advancing technology.  Demonstrating citizenship, responsibility, and vision provide opportunity for every learner to prepare for High School and tomorrow’s working world.  

BMS Effective School Goals

 Goal 1:  All students will improve writing skills.

Strategies:

  1. Require at least one written assignment per class, per semester utilizing the five step writing process.
  2. Students journal across the core curriculum.
  3. Establish writing portfolios for all students    

 

Assessment:

  1. MEAP Writing Test
  2. Pre and Post writing sample using the six point rubric system
  3. District created MEAP Released Item Assessments.

 

Goal 2:  All students will improve informational reading skills.

Strategies:

  1. Increase the amount of time spent reading informational reading selections

  2. Reading Plus Program

  3. Increase opportunities for students to complete more MEAP-like or higher level questions in each class

Assessment:

  1. MEAP Reading Information Test Scores

  2. Reading Plus Informational Reading Scores
  3. Accelerated Reader

 

Goal 3:  All students will demonstrate improved responsibility.

Strategies:

  1. Positive Action Character Education Program
  2. Contact will be made to students who are absent
  3. Identify and develop incentives to recognize good attendance, improved attendance, limited tardies, zero or improved level of referrals to the Success Room and/or office

Assessment:

  1. Referrals and suspensions will be monitored at progress report and report card time

  2. Percentage of assignments completed monitored one week per marking period

  3. Level of student tardies and absences

  4. RTP data provided quarterly
