Mr. Watson
Welcome! I’m glad you stopped by. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Jim Watson, the Responsibility System Coordinator. My goal is to assist students with academic and social excellence. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1990 I later received my degree in counseling and have served the Flint area in many ways. Before settling in at Bendle Middle School, among other things my work included social work and youth ministry. I am still involved with youth ministry and enjoy spending time with my wife, fishing, camping, reading, and playing the guitar.
The middle school years can be difficult. During these years students are reaching toward independence, setting career paths, exploring new levels in relationships and learning important life lessons that will be with them for the rest of their lives. Juggling all of this and so much more can get pretty complex. Sometimes young people need a little help to be successful.
Whenever it becomes evident that students are not making choices that lead to success in the learning environment a trip to the Success Room may be helpful. While in the Success Room I will assist students with the assignment at hand, becoming more successful. This goal is reached through many different means. Some interventions include, discussions, written plans, and home contacts. Several attempts are made to keep students in school. About half of the students I see each marking period, do not return a second time and are able to avoid harsher disciplinary measures. Hurray!
I encourage parents to stay in close contact with their child’s teachers. I also hope that parents won’t hesitate to give me a call or send an e-mail if can be of any assistance at all.
Again, thanks for stopping by and have a successful day… The choice is yours.
